hat is search engine optimization? Very simple: most people - you, me, everyone really - searches the web using Google (or, occasionally, another search engine). Search engines have incredibly complicated algorithms whereby they rank pages according to keywords (amongst many other things). Search engine optimization is the science of optimizing a website to maximize the chances of a good Google ranking, by promoting certain keywords, re-structuring content to be search-engine friendly, and so on. Pig Dog have an in-house, experienced, white-hat SEO, who knows all the tools of the trade, and can optimize your website for Google rankings.
But beware the snake-oil salesmen! No one can guarantee Google rankings, except Google themselves. Their algorithms change constantly, so what made one website rank highly one day will mean very little the next. What we do know for certain is that content is king in the search engine rankings. If you have excellent, specific content, we can certainly help you. At very little extra cost (usually 10% on the site design cost) we optimize your website, submit your sitemap to Google (and Yahoo, MSN, Ask, etc.), and track and optimize your site regularly so that, for the keywords you’ve decided on, your site will be as competitive as possible. We aim, given reasonably specific keywords, to get you into the first page of Google rankings within 3-6 months (and specific means just that... specific: "gardener" is not specific, "landscape gardener south west london" is).
